The military man said this in a video released by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi - Espreso.West reports.

According to Mamavko, the Russian soldiers in the first days of the invasion did not even count their losses, but hoped for a quick and lightning victory. From March 4, fighting continued in Popasna. On March 7, the head of the so-called "LPR" Leonid Pasechnik announced that Russian troops had taken Popasna.

"After this statement, we held this settlement (Ed. - Popasna) for another two and a half months. I think the key thing is that we brought down the very large forces of the Russian army. From March 4, there were daily attacks for two and a half months, without a break", the Commander of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade said.

He also said that at that time the Russians also stormed Kyiv and Kharkiv. However, due to the fact that the Ukrainian military restrained the invaders in Popasna, the opposition was unable to pull up reserves in the direction of Kyiv and other key cities of Ukraine.

"It is difficult for us, but now is such a time that we cannot show weakness. We must use our best skills, knowledge, as well as experience to successfully complete the task and minimize losses," Mamavko emphasized.
