Fires broke out in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. Rescuers cannot begin full-fledged liquidation while Chernobyl is occupied by Russian troops. The State Agency of Ukraine for Management of the Exclusion Zone informs about it, reports "zahid.espreso".

According to radiation monitoring in the exclusion zone by Ecocenter, there were four fires, the area of which is increasing daily. In particular, fires were recorded near the Ukrainian settlements of Polissya, Babor, Stechanka, Rudnya-Veresnya in the Kyiv region, which are 30 kilometers from the border with Belarus.

According to NASA Firms, Serhiy Kireev, director-general of the Ecocenter, says that the fires in the Stechanka area have intensified to 2 kilometers, and in the Bobrove village area to 10 kilometers. The fire was caused by Russia's armed aggression, namely a shell or arson. For the same reasons and taking into account the work in martial law, the ASKRS points cannot perform their functions in full, as well as the staff of the "Ecocenter".

"According to the classification of emergencies, the criteria for fires in the exclusion zone should not exceed 0.05-0.2 kilometers. But the current state exceeds these figures dozens of times," the statement said.

The greatest threat is posed by ongoing fires in areas with significant levels of pollution and the location of radioactive waste infrastructure within a radius of 10 kilometers around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
