Finland’s president ready for talks with Putin, if it facilitates peace in Ukraine
Finnish President Sauli Niinistö says he is ready to talk to Russian leader Vladimir Putin if it contributes to peace in Ukraine: however, he does not see any prerequisites for this at the moment
YLE reported the information.
Niinistö noted that the willingness to talk to the Russian leader is a matter of European choice. He said that if it contributed to peace in Ukraine, he would personally be ready to talk to Putin. However, according to him, there are no prerequisites for this at the moment.
"I don't think he (Vladimir Putin - ed.) will call now," Niinistö said.
The President of Finland also expressed hope that Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine would not turn into a frozen conflict.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that peace in Ukraine is impossible without the de-occupation of Crimea. According to Zelenskyy, despite the fact that Ukraine's efforts are focused on liberating the territories in the southern and eastern parts of the country, Kyiv's ultimate goal is still to de-occupy the Crimean peninsula.
