Finland to take part in rebuilding housing infrastructure of Chernihiv region

Finland will help Ukraine restore infrastructure in the Chernihiv region, including residential buildings, schools, hospitals and utilities networks.

Such support was discussed by the Deputy Head of the Ukrainian President's Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Ukraine Päävi Laine.

"We are ready to provide our partners with all the necessary information on objects that need to be rebuilt. First of all, these are residential buildings, schools, hospitals and utility networks. The Chernihiv region needs the rapid restoration of more than 4,479 residential objects: 1,029 high-rise buildings and 3,231 private houses," Tymoshenko wrote.

According to him, Finland sincerely wants to help the Chernihiv region, and both the Government and private companies are working on this.

In addition, the President's Office separately presented a plan for the construction of housing for displaced persons.

Construction of five-story residential buildings is planned for 5-6 months in 16 regions of Ukraine: 2,000 apartments in each region. Their cost with all furniture and equipment will be about $700 per square meter.

"After the de-occupation of the territories and reconstruction of the housing stock, people will be able to return to their homes, and these apartments will be handed over to the military, doctors, and police officers," Tymoshenko added.
