Russian forces hit objects of critical infrastructure in Kyiv: number of killed increased to seven people

On the morning of October 10, explosions rang out in various districts of the capital of Ukraine.  Seven people died, 51 were injured, 42 of them were hospitalized in the city's medical facilities

Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko informed about this in a comment to Espreso journalist Dmytro Didora.

According to Klitschko, as of 18:30 it is known that the number of dead in the capital has increased to 7, the number of injured has not increased - 51 people, 42 of them are in hospital.

Subsequently, Vitaliy Klitschko clarified the information about the damaged objects in Kyiv.  As a result of the Russian attack, the following were damaged to varying degrees:

• Residential buildings — 45
• Objects of critical infrastructure and housing and communal services — 5
• Educational institutions — 6 (3 schools, 1 kindergarten, 2 after-school education buildings)
• Institutions of the social sphere — 2
• Cultural institutions — 6
• Health care institutions — 5
• Administrative buildings — 2.

According to information at 2:30 p.m., 5 people were killed by rocket attacks in Kyiv.  51 injured, of which 42 people were hospitalized in the city's medical facilities.

"The threat of new strikes continues. Therefore, I ask everyone not to neglect safety and air warning signals. During the alarm, stay in shelters. We are working. We are doing everything to support the life of the city. Thank you to all the people of Kyiv for your understanding and patience! Russian enemy wants to intimidate us, but it will not work!"  Klitschko said:

As of 12:50 p.m., after the alarm was turned off, train traffic on all lines of the capital's subway resumed. The Teatralna - Golden Gate interchange also resumed operations.

The details of the shelling were disclosed in the Kyiv City Military Administration.  So, the aggressor hit the Svyatoshynskyi, Holosiivskyi, Desnyanskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts:

• Shevchenkivskyi district.  3 hits in the area.  The roadway is damaged.  6 cars caught fire, another 15 were damaged.  According to preliminary information, 5 people died, 24 were injured. Also, 2 hits on various infrastructure objects.  3 people were injured
• Svyatoshyn district.  A one-story building was hit, 3 people were injured
• Holosiivskyi district.  2 hitting various critical infrastructure objects.  Previously, 1 person was injured
• Desnyansky district. Hitting a critical infrastructure facility.  Previously, 1 person was injured.  The consequences are clarified

Prior to this, Svitlana Vodolaga, spokeswoman for the State Emergency Service, told Suspilne: "It is known that five people died as a result of the attack in the Shevchenkiv district of the capital. Also, more than 20 people were injured in different districts of Kyiv."

Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klychko reported several hits on the city's critical infrastructure.

According to the deputy head of the Office of the President Kyril Tymoshenko, the Russians targeted the playground and the museum of the Khanenkos.

And the Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko said that the building of the Philharmonic, the Khanenko and Shevchenko museums were damaged.

Residents of the capital were urged to stay in shelters during the alarm.

"If there is no urgent need, it is better not to go to the city today. I am also asking the residents of the suburbs not to go to the capital today," he emphasized.

The central streets of Kyiv were blocked by law enforcement officers, because the rescue services are working.

Trains on all metro lines are suspended, while underground stations operate as shelters.

In some areas of the city, there are interruptions with electricity and the Internet.

However, all trains in Kyiv arrive and depart according to schedule, the station is open for passengers with tickets, underground shelters are working, waiting for a flight is possible in shelters, Ukrzaliznytsia says.

"Kiltseva electric train continues to move through the capital strictly according to the schedule," the message reads.
