Serhii Melnyk, the head of the Kharkiv military garrison, reports this.
According to Melnyk, the Russian forces had previously shelled the Kharkiv region using the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, launching the missiles from the Russian territory of Belgorod.
Melnyk also mentioned that as of 09:20, there were no longer missiles in the region's airspace. However, the risk of further missile attacks remains.
Subsequently, the regional military administration clarified that the invaders had struck Kharkiv's outskirts at least five times, with S-300 missiles impacting the region. Fortunately, early information suggests no casualties.
Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, was the first to report the shelling in Kharkiv, urging residents to seek shelter: "The invaders are launching attacks. Residents of Kharkiv and the surrounding region, please take cover!" he wrote on Telegram.
The Kharkiv regional police also confirmed the shelling and advised residents to heed air raid signals and remain in shelters.
Meanwhile, Suspilne correspondents reported hearing at least four explosions in the city itself.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' Air Force warned of the potential use of ballistic weapons.
