Explosion in center of Istanbul: at least 6 people killed and 53 injured
An explosion rang out in the center of the Turkish city of Istanbul on the pedestrian tourist street Istiklal, so far there are 6 confirmed fatalities and 53 injured.

The number of dead has increased to 6, and the number of injured - to 53. Earlier, Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya reported 4 dead and 38 wounded.
Yerlikaya said on Twitter that the explosion took place around 4:20 p.m. (3:20 p.m. Kyiv time) on Taksim Istiklal Street.
"Security, health and fire services were sent to the scene. There are victims and wounded. We will inform the public about the development of events," he writes.



The Turkish news channel Haber released a video of the moment of the explosion.
It is known that the explosion occurred approximately 400 m from the Russian Consulate General, which is located on the same street.
