EU's Borrell arrives in Kyiv, pays tribute to fallen Ukrainian defenders
On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, October 1, the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, arrived in Kyiv, where he and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in events honoring the defenders of Ukraine
He shared the information on X (formerly Twitter).
"Humbled to be in Kyiv to participate with President Zelenskyy and Minister Dmytro Kuleba in honouring the memory of the fallen defenders & express support to those who are currently defending Ukraine from Russia’s unjustified aggression and fight for our common values," Borrell said.

According to the EU representative, the Day of Defenders of Ukraine is a testament to "the heroic fight of the Ukrainian people for their liberty, against Russia’s barbaric war of aggression."

"With the 9 AM minute of silence, we remember those who paid the highest price to defend their country & our collective freedom," Borrell added.

A day earlier, Josep Borrell arrived in Odesa on an unannounced visit. There he visited the Transfiguration Cathedral destroyed by Russia.

On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine congratulated the defenders of Ukraine on the holiday, thanked everyone who brings the victory closer, and called for honoring the memory of the fallen heroes.
