Europe now sees parallels between Russia and Hitler’s crimes — Espreso correspondent
Espreso correspondent Tetiana Vysotska notes that in Europe, Russia is now being openly compared to the Hitler regime, which once committed similar crimes
She said this on Espreso TV.
“This is an uncomfortable and, in many ways, taboo topic, but the fact that Russia is now being openly compared to Nazi Germany is already a major breakthrough. It marks a significant shift in the conversation, especially when you think back to the start of the full-scale war and the early years,” Vysotska noted.
The correspondent recalled that yesterday, May 7, the European Parliament held a debate on Russia’s abduction of Ukrainian children and their deportation to Russian territory.
“And I want to stress this: every member of parliament who spoke — not one offered any criticism. Even orbanists sat there in silence. Every speech included a direct comparison between Russia and the Nazi regime, which committed similar crimes in its time. Today, people are no longer afraid to call what Russia is doing in Ukraine by its name — genocide. Russia is trying to destroy the Ukrainian nation, culture, language, and identity.
Russia takes Ukrainian children, deports them, forcibly russifies them, and then sends them to military training so that once they’re grown, they can be sent to fight against Ukraine. For Europeans, this is beyond comprehension — they’re shocked by the reports reaching them,” Vysotska added.
On the morning of May 8, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi commemorated the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II.
