Maasikas wrote about this on Twitter.

"We will continue by cooperating on Russian war crimes. And, looking forward to the nomination of the SAPO Head soon", Maasikas wrote.

The diplomat congratulated Kostin on his appointment as the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, noting that together with the EU representation in Ukraine, he closely cooperated with Kostin in justice reform.

It is known that in order to maintain the status of a candidate for joining the EU, Kyiv must complete the appointment of the Head of the SAPO already selected in the competition and hold a competition for the head of NABU.

Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in a speech in the Verkhovna Rada, called for the appointment of the Head of the SAPO as soon as possible.  The competition commission for the election of the Head of the SAPO approved the results of the competition, the detective of the National Anti-corruption Bureau Oleksandr Klymenko scored the most points, so he should become the new Head of the SAPO.

The competition commission turned to the Prosecutor General's Office with a request to provide confirmation that the winners of the competition do not have problems with corruption and lustration.

Despite the fact that the commission approved the formal decision on Klymenko's victory in the competition, the Head of the SAPo is appointed by the Prosecutor General or his deputy.
