Two-thirds of NATO citizens back further support for Ukraine - NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that according to the results of annual opinion polls among citizens of NATO member states, two-thirds of people are in favor of continuing to support Ukraine
Stoltenberg said this in his annual report.
Announcing the results of NATO's public opinion polls, which for the first time included surveys of Finnish and Swedish citizens, Stoltenberg said that two-thirds of Allied citizens want their countries to continue supporting Ukraine. They expressed "strong solidarity with the brave Ukrainians".
The NATO Secretary General pointed out that in 2023, Allies provided unprecedented assistance to Ukraine. This includes long-range systems such as British Storm Shadow missiles and French SCALP missiles. In addition, NATO members agreed to provide Ukraine with F-16 aircraft, and some also signed bilateral security agreements.
"Ukraine needs even more support, and it needs it now. The Ukrainians are not running out of courage. They are running out of ammunition... This is a critical moment and it would be a grave, historic mistake to allow Putin to prevail. We cannot allow authoritarian leaders to get their way by using force," Stoltenberg emphasized.
