EU to impose additional sanctions to limit Russia's ability to produce weapons - Czech foreign minister

The EU plans to impose additional sanctions on Russia's technology sector to limit Moscow's ability to produce missiles that it uses to attack Ukraine

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský shared the information with Reuters.

He made the statement after EU foreign ministers agreed on January 23 to provide Ukraine with another EUR 500 million and discussed additional sanctions against Russia and how to hold the Kremlin accountable for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

"We need to be looking for new and creative ways of how to make our sanctions stronger... how to decrease (Russia's) ability to produce weapons, rockets used for shelling Ukraine's critical infrastructure," Lipavský said.

The EU countries are working on the 10th package of sanctions against Russia, which is scheduled to come into force in February, the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
