EU releases 2024 trade figures with Ukraine
The EU exported €42.8 billion worth of goods to Ukraine and imported €24.5 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of €18.3 billion
According to Eurostat data published on May 7, both exports and imports saw year-on-year growth, rising by 9.4% and 7%, respectively.
The leading export categories were mineral fuels (€6.8 billion), electrical machinery (€4.3 billion) and machinery (€4.2 billion).
Since 2021, the most significant increase in EU exports to Ukraine has been in mineral fuels, which grew by €4.1 billion. This reflects Ukraine’s shift away from importing such fuels from Russia and Belarus, opting instead for increased purchases from the EU.
The main categories of goods imported from Ukraine in 2024 included agricultural products such as cereals (€4.4 billion), animal and vegetable fats and oils (€3.1 billion), and oilseeds and related processed products (€2.5 billion).
Compared to 2021, imports of cereals rose by €2.7 billion, animal and vegetable fats and oils by €1 billion, and oil seeds and related processed products by €1.1 billion.
