The EU has finally approved the allocation of the next tranche of macrofinance to Ukraine in the amount of €5 billion, the press service of the Council of the EU reports.

"We keep our promise and will help ensure that state institutions and key infrastructure in Ukraine can function despite Russian aggression. At the next meetings of finance ministers, I will call for a quick agreement on the remaining 3 billion euros, which form of sums of grants or loans we need to agree," Zbynek Stanyura, Czech Finance Minister says.

The money is provided in the form of long-term loans on very favorable terms. In addition, the decision provides funds for the EU budget to cover the risk of losses on these additional loans, as well as the already paid tranche of 1 billion euros.
