Denmark to allocate over $21 million to support Ukraine and Moldova's EU membership goals
The Danish government will allocate over $21 million to support Ukraine and Moldova on their way to EU membership
This was reported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The funds are planned to be allocated until 2030. They will be used, in particular, to help Ukraine and Moldova create the administrative structures and legislation necessary to move closer to EU membership. In the long term, support will also be extended to candidate countries from the Western Balkans.
"I am glad that we can start accession talks with Ukraine and Moldova. We have always said that EU enlargement is not about lowering the bar for accession, but about helping candidate countries to overcome it, and that is exactly what we are helping Ukraine and Moldova with now," said Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
He also added that the EU's successful enlargement is crucial for the stability of Europe and strengthens the EU's security.
- On Tuesday, June 25, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the start of EU accession talks with Moldova and Ukraine.
