Zelenskyy: assault in Kharkiv region has cost Russia losses in ratio of 1 to 8

The operation launched by the Russian army on May 10, 2024, in the northeast of Kharkiv region, where the state border was breached, and several Ukrainian villages were occupied, caused disproportionate human losses to the aggressor

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with journalists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan on Saturday, May 25.

“Their advance towards Kharkiv, which took place a little over two weeks ago, resulted in military casualties of 1 to 8, one Ukrainian for eight Russians,” the head of state emphasized.

According to Zelenskyy, the occupation army does not count losses, as Putin is indifferent to deaths - both of his citizens and of others.

“Putin does not care about understanding human life. Moreover, he does not care who speaks what language. He does not care about his people, both civilians and military,” the president said.

“And tell me, somewhere there are these statistics, whether he is interested in [the loss of people] or not? Until this week, there were about 2-3 thousand deaths - I constantly receive analytics about the Russian military being killed. 2-3 thousand families lost their children. But he doesn't care at all. Is Putin in a bathhouse at this time, or is he in a spa, which has been shown more than once? He is doing something else entirely. But he will not wash his little hands, of course, from this bloodshed,” Zelenskyy added.

Fighting in the direction of Lyptsi and inside Vovchansk: what is happening now

As of the afternoon of Saturday, May 25, 2024, according to the Ukrainian command, OSINT observers and journalists, there has been no further advance of Russian troops. The front line has been stabilized.

The defense forces continue to repel attempts to storm the strategically important large village of Lyptsi, and also prevent the enemy from advancing further within the urban area of Vovchansk.

“In the Kharkiv sector, the enemy attacked Ukrainian troops three times since the beginning of the day. Two assaults were repelled in the area of Lyptsi without success for the enemy. Another combat engagement is taking place in the area of Vovchansk. The defense forces continue to strengthen their positions,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported at 11:00 am.

Despite this, a number of Ukrainian border villages captured by the Russians remain under occupation.
