Emergency power outages introduced in 5 Ukrainian regions and Kyiv

On December 26, emergency shutdowns were introduced in five Ukrainian regions and Kyiv due to a significant power shortage in the power system.

This was reported by Ukrenergo, Ukraine's electricity transmission system operator.

As specified by Ukrenergo, due to significant damage to main power grids as a result of  Russian massive attacks, there are currently restrictions in the electricity transmission system. In this regard, consumption limits have been set for all regions.

At the same time, due to exceeding consumption limits on December 26, emergency shutdowns had to be introduced in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Kyiv regions, as well as in the city of Kyiv.

“Repair work is ongoing at the generation facilities and power grids damaged as a result of nine massive Russian attacks. Due to the scale and complexity of the damage, the restoration of equipment and the functioning of a number of key facilities will require considerable time,” the company added and assured that it is ready for any scenarios and under any conditions to restore the operation of the power system.
