Elections in Turkey: none of candidates gets 50% of votes

The Turkish state news agency Anadolu has published preliminary results of the vote count in the presidential election in Turkey. As of 07:00 a.m. on May 15, 98.55% of the votes in the presidential election in Turkey have been processed

Anadolu Agency receives data from the Supreme Electoral Council online.

The current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is currently leading with a score of 49.34%. His main opponent, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, gained 45.00%. A representative of the right-wing Ancestral Alliance, Sinan Oğan, received 5.23% of the vote.

The election turnout was 88.84%.

If none of the candidates receives 50% plus one vote today, a second round of the presidential election will be held on May 28.

As of 8:40 p.m., according to Anadolu, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan allegedly received 51.64% of the vote, while opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu received 42.53%, and 5.33% of voters voted for candidate Sinan Oğan.

According to the Turkish newspaper Gazete Duvar, Fatih Altayli, a well-known Turkish journalist, wrote on his social network that Erdogan's party, as he claims, is dissatisfied with the results and has already demanded a recount in some constituencies, and the results are likely to be announced with some delay.

As of 9:50 p.m., after processing more than 75% of the ballots, 50.6% of the votes were cast for Recep Tayyip Erdogan, 43.52% voted for his rival Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, and 5.31% of voters chose candidate Sinan Oğan.

As of 11:15 p.m., according to Anadolu, more than 90% of the ballots have been processed. Incumbent President Recep Erdogan won 49.94% of the vote. His rival Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu received 44.3% of the vote. Another 5.31% chose candidate Sinan Oğan.

As of 01:00 a.m., after processing more than 95% of the ballots, 49.5% of the votes were cast for Recep Tayyip Erdogan, 44.7% voted for his rival Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, and 5.2% of voters chose Sinan Oğan.

In addition, the mayors of Istanbul and Ankara urge not to believe the preliminary data from Anadolu.
