“Echelons are coming after us, killing deserters”: captured invader spoke about “execution squads” in the Russian army

The 22-year-old senior sapper of the occupying troops said during interrogation that he was sent to Ukraine "to study."  According to him, his unit crossed the border with Ukraine in Armyansk, after which it moved across Ukrainian soil to Mykolaiv for six days. After the battle with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the military surrendered.

“We saw that we were not going here as peacekeepers, but to fight. When asked by the commander, who the hell are we doing here, turn around home and leave... We won’t get home, the echelons behind are killed for desertion", the captive said.

The invader also said that other military officers also reported trains set up to kill Russians who wanted to flee. He noted that they were lied to about the absence of civilians in the settlements and that missiles do not fire on civilians.

Also, the captive soldier added that near Odessa, 600 invaders refused to leave the ship when they realized what was happening.
