Drones hit Russia’s Gazprom Neftekhim, Volgograd oil refinery

On Thursday, September 18, Russia reported a drone attack on the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat company in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The facility is located over 1,300 km from Ukraine

The head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, confirmed the attack on Telegram.

According to Khabirov, the attack was carried out by two drones.

“There are no casualties. Passive and active defenses were activated, and the facility’s security opened fire on the targets. We are assessing the extent of the damage. The fire is being extinguished, and all services are on site,” he said.

Earlier, information about the attack and photos showing black smoke from the facility appeared on social media.

Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat owns one of the largest oil refining and petrochemical production complexes in Russia.

Attack on Volgograd oil refinery

Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, commented on the strike against an enterprise in Salavat, Russia. He noted that, according to available information, the Volgograd Oil Refinery was also targeted.
