Drone attacks force Russia to relocate aircraft needed to support infantry, and this will affect ground events – military expert Katkov
It is extremely important for the Russian forces to be able to use aviation to provide fire support to their troops, and if they are not able to use it, it will have a huge impact on events on the ground
Oleh Katkov, editor-in-chief of Defense Express, said this on Espreso TV.
"Destroying aircraft on the ground is the best means of any air defense system. They will definitely not fly anywhere or be able to perform combat missions. The fact that the amount of hits generated by unidentified drones is increasing is an extremely important aspect. This means that the enemy will move aircraft outside the strike zone," Katkov said.
According to the expert, there will be a situation like after the hit at the Engels airfield, when the Russian forces were forced to move their strategic bombers as far as possible.
"Russian forces do not keep their aircraft in areas closer than 120 kilometers from the fire range of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Moving even further will reduce the intensity of flights, because the aircraft will be in the air for more time. As a result, this will have an extremely positive impact on what is happening not only in the sky but also on the ground. It is extremely important for the Russian forces to be able to use aircraft to provide fire support to their units. If the enemy is not able to use them, this will have a huge impact on events on the ground," the expert concluded.
