Denmark to send $250 mln in military aid to help Ukraine’s offensive
The Danish Parliament has decided to allocate a new military aid package to Ukraine worth DKK 1.7 billion (over $250 million), the largest ever from Copenhagen
This was announced by the Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen after a meeting of the Foreign Policy Council, the Danish edition DR reports.
"This (new aid package - ed.) means that we are helping Ukrainian air defense. There is a demand for this," Poulsen said.
According to the decision, Denmark will donate demining machines, ammunition, field bridges and funds for air defense to Ukraine.
The donation is the largest aid package from Denmark to date and is being sent to support the Ukrainian offensive.
"This will help support the capabilities that the Ukrainian side lacks for a successful offensive now that the Ukrainians are planning to retake the Russian-occupied territories," explained Poulsen.
Later, the Danish Ministry of Defense clarified that the support package include: armoured evacuation and engineering vehicles
- demining equipment
- mortar grenades
- ammunition for the Carl Gustaf gun;
- mobile field bridges;
- night vision systems;
- funds for the purchase of air defence systems;
- €50 million to support NATO with non-lethal equipment for Ukraine.
The DR media outlet also notes that the funds will be transferred from the DKK 7 billion Ukraine Fund. Denmark's total support for Ukraine has now reached DKK 11 billion.
