Denmark and Germany to hand over batch of Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine
Denmark, together with Germany, will deliver 80 Leopard 1 tanks for Ukraine’s army. They will be ready for use in early summer
This was stated by acting Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, TV2 Nyheder reports.
On May 5, the acting Danish Defense Minister arrived on a visit to Germany. Together with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius, he inspected the Ukrainian Armed Forces' tank training.
He noted that Ukrainians will receive 80 units of equipment.
"The 80 Leopard 1 tanks we are providing are a significant number," the minister said.
According to him, Leopard 1 tanks will be ready for commissioning in Ukraine on June 1. Training of Ukrainian tank crews will take about a month.
The Danish Defense Minister noted that the Leopard 1 tanks in question were decommissioned in 2005. They were in storage.
"They have a very good ability to fire and navigate on the ground," Poulsen added.
