De-occupation of Ukraine, removal of Putin, trial of war criminals and reparations - joint declaration of Russian opposition
A meeting of representatives of the Russian opposition was held in Berlin, which resulted in the publication of the "Declaration of Russian Democratic Forces"
It was posted on the Change.org platform.
The declaration consists of five main points:
-
The war against Ukraine is criminal. Russian troops must be withdrawn from all occupied territories. Russia's internationally recognized borders must be restored; war criminals must be brought to justice, and victims of aggression must be paid compensation.
-
The Putin regime is illegitimate and criminal. Therefore, it must be eliminated. We see Russia as a country where individual rights and freedoms are guaranteed, where the possibility of usurping state power is excluded.
-
The implementation of imperial policy inside and outside the country is unacceptable.
-
Political prisoners and prisoners of war must be released, forcibly displaced persons must be allowed to return, and abducted Ukrainian children must be returned to Ukraine.
-
We stand in solidarity with those Russians who, despite the horrific repression, have the courage to speak out against Putin and the war, and with the tens of millions who refuse to participate in the regime's crimes.
The Declaration also states that the signatories share the values of a democratic society, recognize human rights and freedoms, the principles of diversity and equality, and reject discrimination.
The declaration was signed by 68 opposition representatives. They pledge to "refrain from public conflicts in the democratic and anti-war movements."
Among the signatories of the document are politicians in exile Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Dmitry Gudkov, Ilya Ponomarev and Leonid Gozman, political scientists Kirill Rogov and Ivan Preobrazhensky, entrepreneurs Evgeny Chichvarkin and Boris Zimin, economists Sergey Guriev and Andrei Illarionov, lawyers Mark Feigin and Elena Lukyanova, gallery owner Marat Gelman, activists Evgenia Chirikova and Anastasia Shevchenko, as well as representatives of Russian anti-war movements in different countries. The meeting of opposition activists took place at the initiative of Khodorkovsky and several other political opposition figures living outside the Russian Federation.
Among those who signed the declaration, there are no representatives of the Anti-Corruption Action Fund. Alexei Navalny's associates also did not participate in the meeting in Berlin organized by Mikhail Khodorkovsky on the sidelines of the annual human rights conference in memory of Yuri Schmidt, a Russian human rights activist and lawyer who died in 2013.
