Damage to Chongar Bridge greatly affects Russian logistics
Deputy of the Kherson Regional Council, Serhiy Khlan, reported that the Russian forces continue to transfer military equipment to the temporarily occupied territories, although the damage to the Chongar Bridge makes logistics much more difficult for them.
He stated this on Espreso.
“Currently, the invaders are moving military equipment to the temporarily occupied territories. However, the Chongar Bridge's damage has made their logistics very challenging. It's a similar situation to what happened with the Antonivskyi Bridge. Initially, they claimed that nothing serious occurred, then they admitted to some damages. Now, they are trying to quickly rebuild the bridge. They have set up pontoon crossings, but even with those, military equipment still overturns,” he said.
The deputy of the Kherson Regional Council also shared that the invaders are establishing new routes to supply their troops in the temporarily occupied territories.
“Additionally, they have created a road connection through the Arabatska arrow. This route is used to transport equipment and supplies. Currently, a significant portion of the invaders' support goes through the Arabatska arrow, with most of the equipment being sent towards the Zaporizhzhia direction,” he added.
Explosion on Chongar Bridge
Late in the evening on June 22, the Russian occupiers reported an explosion on the Chongar Bridge near Crimea, which is currently under temporary occupation.
According to Volodymyr Saldo, a collaborator from Kherson, the attack was allegedly carried out using an English Storm Shadow missile. The bridge's road surface was damaged, no one was injured. He later issued a threat to attack bridges in the Odesa region.
The GUR (Main Intelligence Directorate) stated that this was a planned operation by the Defense Forces and partisan groups who anticipate the return of Ukrainian authorities to Crimea.
Following the Chongar Bridge attack, the Russian invaders swiftly constructed a pontoon crossing to connect the temporarily occupied Crimea with Ukraine.
