Daily General Staff report: Ukrainian troops repulse 69 Russian attacks, hit 3 EW devices and several military personnel positions

Russians launched an offensive in 5 directions, but the AFU repulsed 69 attacks

The AFU General Staff reports this in the morning briefing on March 20.

Russia continues conducting offensive in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Marinka, and Shakhtarsk (Vuhledar) directions.

Over the last day, March 19, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 69 enemy attacks in these directions.

The General Staff emphasizes that Bakhmut remains the epicenter of hostilities.

Russian forces launch 6 missile and 13 air strikes on Ukraine

On March 19, Russia continued to use terror tactics against the civilian population of Ukraine. By shelling populated areas and critical infrastructure facilities, the enemy completely ignores the laws and customs of war.

Thus, Russians launched 6 missile attacks and 13 air strikes, carried out 56 MLRS attacks, damaging civilian infrastructure of the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, killing and injuring civilians.

The risk of attacks remains throughout the territory of Ukraine.

Directions situation 

On the northern and northeastern border with Belarus and Russia the situation remains the same. Russian forces continue training in Belarus. During the day, Russian troops shelled 4 settlements in the Chernihiv region, 5 more in the Sumy region, and 13 others in the Kharkiv region.

Kupiansk and Lyman directions: Russian troops’ offensive was unsuccessful; they fired artillery at 5 settlements in the Kharkiv region, and 5 in the Luhansk region.

Bakhmut direction: more than 9 settlements in the Donetsk region were subjected to Russian attacks. Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Bohdanivka and Hryhorivka.

Avdiivka, Marinka and Shakhtarsk directions: 16 settlements in the Donetsk region were under Russian fire. The Russian offensive was unsuccessful. 

Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions: 27 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson region were shelled. The enemy is defending. 

Ukrainian soldiers hit 4 air defense systems, 3 EW devices and several Russian military positions  

During the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces Aviation hit three Buk-M1-2 anti-aircraft missile systems, launched 7 strikes on Russian military personnel positions, and destroyed an ammunition depot.

Ukrainian defenders also destroyed a Russian UAV of the Zala type.

Units of missile troops and artillery hit the Russian Tor anti-aircraft missile system, 3 personnel and military equipment positions and 3 devices of electronic warfare.
