Czech Republic ready to modernize dozens more T-72 tanks for Ukraine – results of Ramstein
At a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group on Friday, the Czech Republic expressed its readiness to modernise several dozen more T-72 tanks
This was reported by European Pravda.
Deputy Czech Defense Minister Daniel Blazkovec told the participants of the meeting that the Czech Republic "combines maximum donations from army stocks, purchases from state funds, joint funds and commercial supplies" in helping Ukraine.
He added that Prague's current priorities in terms of armed support for Kyiv are BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, tanks, large-caliber ammunition, electronic warfare, intelligence, and air defense equipment.
Among other things, as part of a trilateral project with the United States and the Netherlands to supply more than 90 modernized T-72 tanks, Ukraine has already received 37, "and more are being added every month."
"We propose to increase the pace of modernization by dozens more (tanks - ed.) if the partners are interested in financing this project," said Ales Vytecka, director of the Czech Intergovernmental Defense Cooperation Agency (AMOS).
Blažkovec added that the Czech Republic is ready to negotiate the establishment of a center for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of heavy equipment on the basis of the state-owned VOP and several private companies.

As a reminder, defense ministers of the countries that are members of the so-called "tank coalition" had a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format. The meeting participants signed a protocol of intent to establish a maintenance and service center for Leopard 2 main battle tanks, previously supplied to Ukraine, in Poland.
