Complete cessation of Russian gas supply to Europe is quite likely - political scientist Magda
Yevhen Magda, a political scientist, has said that in recent speeches, Putin emphasizes the course of opposing Russia to the West and claims that the economic blitzkrieg against Russia has failed.
He expressed his opinion with Espreso.
"North Stream-1 was built as an alternative to the Ukrainian gas transportation system, and it was supported by the energy companies of Germany, France, Italy, and Austria. Again, energy companies are usually private, but protecting their interests is an element of state policy," he explained political scientist
Yevhen Magda noted that Germany, for obvious reasons, does not want to irritate Russia even more, and this is quite noticeable, because Russian influences in Germany enter into a duel with sympathies for Ukraine.
"But I would recall the words of the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who called to prepare for the complete cessation of gas supplies from Russia, and I think that this is a very likely scenario. Based on Putin's speech to the leaders of the Duma factions, he is on a course for escalation, on Russia's opposition to the West, and also claims that the economic blitzkrieg against Russia has failed. I have no doubt that Putin will continue to raise rates," Magda noted.
