Volodymyr Zelenskyy receives American Academy of Achievement Award

The award was presented to Zelenskyy by the leader of the Republican Party in the U.S. Senate, Mitch McConnell, in New York.

“We don't have much time. The next few months will be decisive ahead of us in this war—Russia's war against Ukraine—and all of you. Because this is Russia's war against freedom itself. We are short of time to define what the outcome will be, and we must define it— not Russia, not their bloody allies,” Zelenskyy said at the award ceremony.

The Ukrainian president emphasized that his country already has a victory plan, which he will present to White House Chief of Staff Joe Biden, Congress, US presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, as well as to world allies.

“Today’s world does not allow us to lose a single battle, when on one side is freedom and on the other is everything that we would never wish for our children. On the other, none of us would wish, no matter where—in America, Ukraine, or anywhere across Europe, anywhere in the world—no one willingly chooses regimes like the Russian one, Iranian, or any other dictatorship for their children. These regimes are always built on violence, always make wars and spill blood, and always steal the future. They ruin years, living decades in ruins. This is why they must lose,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

The Golden Plate Award has been awarded for 60 years to statesmen, civic leaders, writers, and entrepreneurs for their contribution to human development. The Golden Plate Award has also been presented to U.S. Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama, as well as Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners.
