Ukrainian photojournalist Yulia Kochetova among winners of World Press Photo-2024 Global Stage

Yulia Kochetova's multimedia project "War is personal" won in the Open Format category

The Institute of Mass Information reported the information. 

Earlier, the same project won at the regional stage of WPP.

"We have been living with collective trauma for many generations. That's why I wanted to make a story where the war would not be a point on the map, not a number of tranches of Western support, not a battle. Because the whole world has learned the name of the Battle of Bakhmut, but does not know the names of those who died there. I wanted to give this war names, faces. I won't be able to show everyone, but I can at least show those I meet," Yulia said about her project at the time.

She has been covering the occupation of Crimea and the war in Donbas since 2014, and is currently covering Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
