
Svitolina returns to world’s top 15: first time in 3 years
Ukraine’s top tennis player Elina Svitolina has climbed to 14th place in the latest WTA rankings

Last week, Elina Svitolina had a strong showing at the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid, where she reached the semifinals but lost to Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.
Her successful run in Madrid boosted her position in the WTA rankings. Fourteenth place is the highest result for a Ukrainian player in more than three years. The last time she ranked higher than 17th was in late February 2022.
Marta Kostyuk, who reached the quarterfinals at the Mutua Madrid Open, also returned to the top 30. Ukraine’s number two rose from 36th to 27th place.
