According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning, Beijing will welcome talks with Ukraine. At the same time, the diplomat avoided a specific answer about the likelihood of a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, and called the war a “crisis.”
"China's position on the crisis in Ukraine is consistent and very clear. The core is to call for peace and promote dialogue and promote a political solution to the crisis. We have always maintained communication with the sides involved including Ukraine," Mao said.
