Center for Countering Disinformation publishes Russia’s fakes for March 29 

The Center for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of fakes that the Russian Federation produced on March 29

According to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, on March 29, the Russians launched three major deceptions. 

Disinformation: Russian media reported that "Russia does not rule out the possibility of Kyiv sending saboteurs to Belarus to overthrow the republic's leadership. Belarusian security forces must take into account the risks and repel both targeted provocations and a full-scale invasion of the enemy." 

Fake: Commenting on the resolution recognizing the Holodomor in Ukraine as genocide, the Russian Embassy in France said: "The notion of the 'Holodomor' is a political and ideological construct invented by Ukrainian ultranationalist and Russophobic forces to denigrate Russia." 

Manipulation: "Sustainable peace in Ukraine is possible if the Ukrainian military stops fighting and the West stops supplying weapons. Ukraine needs a neutral, non-nuclear and non-aligned status, as well as the recognition of new territories. The Russian Federation will not tolerate the existence of an anti-Russian state on its borders," said Deputy Foreign Minister M. Galuzin.

Russians also spread information online that the UN had recognized that Ukraine discriminates against the Orthodox Church. This is also fake. 

Propaganda media write that the UN has published a report that refers to discrimination against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) of the Moscow Patriarchate. 

The Russians refer to the document titled "Report on the human rights situation in Ukraine, August 1, 2022—January 31, 2023," published by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on March 24, 2023.

The report concerns war crimes committed by Russians in Ukraine, but propagandists are silent about them, EU vs. Disinfo analysts noted. The document contains a single paragraph about Security Service of Ukraine searches of UOC premises and notices of suspicion to UOC clergy. It also contains the sentence:

The UN Human Rights Office is concerned that state activities against the UOC may be discriminatory.

But this is not an admission that Ukraine discriminates against the church.
