Budanov assesses ability of Russian industry to produce new missiles
Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Kyrylo Budanov said that Russian industry is not capable of producing such a number of missiles that Russia uses against Ukraine.
Budanov told this in the interview with LIGA.net.
According to him, if Russian Federation uses missiles with the same intensity, aggressor will soon run out of them altogether.
"The remaining number of missiles - if we take their calculations purely mathematically - will be enough with their intensity in shelling with 70-75 missiles on average for two or three times. And in principle, they will run out altogether," Budanov said.
In his opinion, despite all Russian efforts to increase the production of new missiles, it is unrealistic to manufacture them in large quantities.
"If you look at the intensity of Russia's missile attacks, they make these terrorist attacks against critical infrastructure objects at first once a week. Then - once every 10 days. Then - once every two weeks. Now it's even longer. This period of time is due solely to one problem: the rapid reduction of the Russian missile arsenal. Their industry is not able to cover the amount they spend. Despite all their efforts, this is unrealistic," Budanov is convinced.
He added that it takes a long time to produce missiles for one mass attack.
"I remember that they dream of producing 20 sea-based Kalibr missiles per month. Calculate how much work is needed to provide a single shelling. Yes, shelling includes both Kh-101 and Kh-555, and Kalibr. But here are statistics for you - do the math. Iskanders are almost not produced," Budanov noted.
He also expressed skepticism about the Russian stockpile of hypersonic Kinzhal missiles.
"There were only 47 of them at the beginning of the war, as far as I remember. During this time, they were able to make a few while there were spare parts. It's not serious. You can scare the world with the fact that you have "Kinzhal". But when you really start to use them - what next? You can make 47 strikes. To understand, more than 900 Iskanders have been used. What is 47? It's almost impossible to produce them now. They can't get a lot of equipment because of sanctions. They do parallel imports, but it makes it very difficult and increases the deadline for delivery of these parts. And some of them, in spite of everything, they still cannot get," Budanov explained.
