This was stated on Monday by EU High Representative Josep Borrell at a press conference at the Magdalena Palace in Santander, Spain, Europa Press reports.

According to Borrell, meeting preparation is currently underway. The international community should put pressure on Russia to end the war, he said.

"Only Russia can stop the war, Russia started it, and Russia must end it," he added.

Meeting of National Security Advisors in Jeddah

Over the weekend of August 5-6, negotiations took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, involving more than 40 countries discussing ways to stop the war in Ukraine. The meeting was attended by national security advisors. Saudi Arabia was chosen as the location to encourage world powers that have remained neutral to support the Ukrainian peace efforts.

This marks the second meeting of national security advisors and political directors to discuss the key principles of peace based on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula. According to Deputy Head of the President's Office, Ihor Zhovkva, the participant count increased from 15 to nearly 40 after the successful discussions in a similar format in Copenhagen on June 24. Additional countries from the Global South also joined.

On August 7, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the international negotiations in Saudi Arabia regarding the "Ukraine crisis" helped to strengthen international consensus.

On Tuesday, August 8, the Institute for the Study of War reported that the summit in Jeddah revealed increasing differences between Beijing and Moscow concerning the resolution of Russia's war against Ukraine. However, the Chinese Foreign Ministry assured Russia that China remains impartial to the war.

Also on August 8, the Head of the Ukrainian President's Office, Andriy Yermak, met with representatives from Ukrainian and foreign media. He discussed the outcomes of the second consultations on the key principles for restoring lasting peace in Ukraine, held on August 5-6 in Jeddah.
