Kryvyi Rih has been decorated with a new patriotic mural featuring a portrait of the outgoing UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The mural was painted by Anastasia Shcherbak, a young artist from Kryvyi Rih, as part of a project initiated by the Honcharenko Center cultural and educational network. It's aim is to commemorate the friendly relations between Ukraine and Great Britain, including the UK's military aid.

A new patriotic mural has appeared in Kryvyi Rih on Tbiliska Street, near the main entrance of the industrial giant 2ArcelorMittal, opposite the city headquarters of internally displaced persons. It depicts the portrait of the former Prime Minister of Great Britain, Boris Johnson, against the background of the Ukrainian flag. This was initiated by the volunteer cultural and educational network Honcharenko Center in cooperation with the young artist Anastasia Shcherbak, a graduate of the Art and Graphic Faculty of Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University.

As the head of the Honcharenko Center in Kryvyi Rih Mykola Bryukhovetskyi said, Boris Johnson's mural was created with an educational and cultural purpose, which is directly related to the concept of Goncharenko Centers. "Murals in support of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to the Russian aggressor are a global trend. And it is very important that they should be in each of our cities. The message conveyed by the artists is powerful and clear to everyone: Ukraine is strong, it will definitely win. Why  Boris Johnson in particular? Because this charismatic British politician showed genuine support for Ukraine. From the very beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion, the ex-prime minister of Great Britain took an active pro-Ukrainian position," said the director of the local branch.

According to the founder of the Honcharenko Center volunteer network, People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko, the image of Boris Johnson should remind of the friendly relations between the two countries - Ukraine and Great Britain and contribute to their strengthening.

"I am personally acquainted with Boris Johnson. He is an extraordinary person! Ukrainians will always remember that, despite the constant shelling of Kyiv, he had the courage to be the first world leader to visit our capital during the war. He proposed a training program for the Ukrainian military in Great Britain, stimulating at the international level the supply of heavy weapons and anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine, as well as the strengthening of sanctions against Russia. I believe that Boris Johnson has already become a symbol of international support for our fight against the aggressor!," stressed Oleksiy Honcharenko.

Reference: Honcharenko Centers are a nationwide network of open cultural and educational centers that are currently engaged in helping military, forced migrants and residents of places where intense hostilities are underway. The network was founded in February 2021 by People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko with the aim of providing free education to various segments of the population: conducting English language courses for children and adults, preparing teenagers for vocational training, forming financial literacy skills, teaching the elderly in modern technologies.
