The IAEA announced this on Twitter.
"Rafael Grossi (IAEA Director General - ed.) says the development violates key safety pillar on ensuring uninterrupted power supply", the organization said in a statement.
However, it is noted that the IAEA does not see critical security risks at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
"The IAEA believes that the heat load of the spent fuel storage pool and cooling water volume at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is sufficient to effectively remove heat without the need for electricity", the agency said.
