Biden signs US budget for 2023 with multi-billion dollar aid to Ukraine
US President Joe Biden signs legislation with a state budget of USD 1.7 trillion, which includes almost USD 45 billion in aid to Ukraine and allies to counter Russian aggression
This is stated in the official statement of the White House.
"On Thursday, December 29, 2022, the President signed into law: H.R. 2617, the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023,” making consolidated appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2023, and for providing emergency assistance for the situation in Ukraine, and for other purposes," the document states.
The document also provides for the allocation of funds from the budget for other state programs.
On Twitter, Biden noted that he signed "the bipartisan omnibus bill, ending a year of historic progress."
"It'll invest in medical research, safety, veteran health care, disaster recovery, VAWA funding – and gets crucial assistance to Ukraine," the US president stressed.
The president added that he looks forward to more in 2023.
