NBC News, citing sources, notes that Biden is in no hurry to publicly announce his participation in the 2024 elections.

This reluctance to talk about what he has repeatedly said in private is due to a number of factors. In particular, it is the focus of public attention on the trial against former US President Donald Trump and the lack of a serious rival from the Democratic Party. Also, the reluctance to officially announce the decision to run for a second term in office is provoked by the impending clash with Republicans in Congress over budget spending.

Sources from the current US president's inner circle say that Biden may not announce his decision to run for a second term because he wants to retain the option of not running. Thus, when talking about his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, Biden warned that his decision could be influenced by political or personal circumstances that could change.

Others argue that he is in no hurry to make the announcement because of Trump's attacks on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who may become the Republican nominee.

However, other sources noted that they have little doubt that Biden will run for the second presidential term. According to them, preparations are underway.

White House spokesman Andrew Bates confirmed the current US president's intention to seek re-election.

“President Biden has been clear that he intends to run, and his focus is on finishing the work he’s doing for American families: continuing to bring manufacturing back from overseas, further cutting the deficit by having rich special interests pay their fair share, and standing up for fundamental rights like the freedom to choose," Andrew Bates said in statement to NBC News. "There has never been a timeframe for any announcement.”

  • On October 23, 2022, US President Joe Biden announced that he intends to run for president again in 2024.
