The US presidential administration says that the weapons provided to Ukraine over the past two months are partly intended for a counteroffensive in the south

This was stated by an official of the administration of the US President, CNN reports.
He noted that the Ukrainian side asked for weapons specifically for a counteroffensive in the South of Ukraine, and the US fulfilled many such requests. In particular, during the last two months, they handed over artillery, Javelins, and additional ammunition.
"These packages were common knowledge, but what was not known at the time was that they were designed in part to support the counteroffensive that is now underway", the official said.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and US General Mark Milley spoke with their Ukrainian counterparts to find out exactly what kind of weapons Ukraine needs depending on the objectives on the battlefield.
