Belarusian singer is sentenced to 3 years behind bars for singing the song of Ukrainian band

Editor of Euroradio for Belarus Zmitser Lukashuk stressed that it is now dangerous in Belarus to express a position on war in Ukraine

He said this live on air of the Espreso TV channel.

"In Belarus, it is now dangerous to react critically to anything. Yesterday, a girl, a singer, was sentenced to 3 years in jail for performing an Okean Elzy song in Ukrainian on the street of Minsk. It makes no sense to expect Belarusians to come out with protests."  Lukashuk noted.

According to him, there are currently no independent mass media in Belarus.

"Russian propaganda works in Belarus. Information is limited, people are punished even if police find a Telegram channel of independent mass media in somebody's phone. It is very dangerous to express one's position in Belarus now," Lukashuk added.
