Belarus to hold military exercises in regions bordering Ukraine
From September 22 to 26, military exercises will be held in Belarus at various training grounds and locations, mainly near the border with Ukraine
The Belarusian Ministry of Defense reports.
"The Armed Forces of Belarus will hold a bilateral comprehensive exercise," the statement reads.
According to the ministry, the maneuvers will be held in several stages from September 22 to 26 at various training grounds and locations, mainly in the Brest, Grodno, and Minsk regions.
It is noted that the purpose of the exercise is to improve the level of readiness of the military command and control bodies of operational units to ensure continuous control of subordinate forces and means during hostilities.
Exercises of Russia’s Armed Forces in Belarus
The exercises have been running continuously since April 29, 2022, it is already 73 weeks.
On August 18, the first echelon of Russian troops arrived in Belarus for the The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) exercises, which also includes Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
The commander of the AFU Joint Forces, Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, said that the military does not rule out provocations on the northern borders amid the CSTO exercises.
On the morning of August 29, another echelon of Russian armed forces arrived in Belarus to participate in CSTO exercises.
On August 30, it was reported that a batch of Iskander-M air defense systems had arrived in Belarus from Russia.
Joint military exercises between Belarus and Russia were once again extended until September 17.
The joint military exercises of the Belarusian army with Russian troops have once again been extended until September 24.
