Belarus has no nuclear weapons and unlikely to get any, says Ukraine’s foreign intel chief
The head of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleh Ivashchenko, said that nuclear weapons carriers are currently deployed in Belarus, but there are no nuclear weapons there
He shared the information in an interview with Ukrinform.
“There are carriers. That’s true. There are aircraft and the operational-tactical missile system Iskander. But there is no nuclear weapon itself in Belarus. That is a fact,” emphasized Ivashchenko.
According to him, sites for storing nuclear weapons are currently being prepared in Belarus.
The self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, claims that by the end of the year Belarus will supposedly have the Oreshnik, but the head of Ukraine’s foreign intelligence considers this unlikely.
“Lukashenko says that by the end of the year they will have the Oreshnik. But this seems like wishful thinking. As of now, there is nothing like that, and it is unlikely to appear,” said the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
- It was recently reported that during the joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises Zapad-2025, the forces plan to rehearse strikes with tactical nuclear weapons and the Oreshnik system.
