Belarus currently does not have necessary offensive group for invasion of Ukraine, number of units and their actions have not changed
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine says that the situation on the border with Belarus is controlled, but tense. Belarus is building up tension together with Russia, by demonstrating joint training activities of military units
This was stated by the spokesman of the State Border Guard Service (SBGS) of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko during a media briefing.
He emphasized that the creation of the necessary offensive group that would be ready to invade the territory of Ukraine has not been detected, and that the Ukrainian Armed Forces and SBGS units are ready for any development of events. The spokesman emphasized that the fortification of the border continues.
"Our main task is defense. To make strong defense in this direction to prevent invasion. Units of the State Border Guard Service and other components of the Defense Forces, which are fortifying the border with Belarus, are ready for any developments," said Demchenko.
According to him, Belarus continues to support Russia, providing it with territory, infrastructure and airspace. Military units on the territory of Belarus are still near the border with Ukraine, but neither the number nor the nature of their actions changes, they change on a rotational basis.
"In addition, Belarus and Russia are constantly escalating the situation, focusing on this direction. This is done by demonstrating joint training activities of military units. Including maneuvers of equipment, checking the combat readiness of the Belarusian forces, as well as continuing to build up the grouping of the so-called Union State,” Demchenko said.
In addition, Demchenko stressed the possibility of provocations on the border with Belarus in order to blame Ukraine for escalation.
- The head of the South Caucasus branch of the Center for Army Studies Volodymyr Kopchak said on Espreso TV that crossing the border by Belarusian or the joint group troops would open the possibility for retaliatory and preemptive strikes on military facilities in Belarus.
