On October 3, Azovstal defenders met with their families in Turkey. The soldiers were also visited by the Head of the President's Office Andrii Yermak and First Lady Olena Zelenska.
This was reported on the website of the President's Office.
With the assistance of the Turkish side, the defenders of Azovstal met with the family members in Istanbul.
In particular, the commander with the special unit of the Azov regiment Denys Prokopenko, his deputy Sviatoslav Palamar, senior officer Oleh Khomenko, the acting commander with the 36th Detached Marine Brigade Serhii Volynskyi, and the commander with the 12th Brigade of Ukraine's National Guard Denys Shlega saw their families.
Andrii Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, was present at the meeting.
"Today, the most important thing is to ensure the full recovery of the health of our defenders. The health of the body and spirit is equally important. So treat your rehabilitation as responsibly as possible, you must follow all the recommendations of the doctors," Yermak emphasized.
The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska also visited the heroes.
"There are many emotions. The way to this moment was long and difficult. Finally, they were able to hug. I gave them greetings and thanks from Ukraine, from the President and all the people for whom they are fighting. It is an important day. The main thing is that Ukraine is fighting and will fight for all our people. There are still many of them in Russian captivity - men and women, military and civilians. And we need each and every one of them. Alive," Zelenska stressed.
