At least USD 188 billion is needed to rebuild Ukraine after war - KSE
As of August 8, the documented infrastructure damage in Ukraine resulting from Russia's full-scale invasion amounts to USD 110.4 billion, while the cost of reconstruction has increased to USD 188 billion.
This is stated in a study by the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE).
Over the last week, the amount of infrastructure damage has increased by USD 2.1 billion. The biggest change has occurred in the estimate of infrastructure damage, which already reaches USD 33.4 billion. Also, over the last week, damage in the spheres of culture, tourism and sports amounted to USD 1.3 billion.
In total, since the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine, at least 15,300 high-rise buildings, 115,900 private houses, 388 enterprises, 43,700 units of agricultural machinery, 1991 shops, 511 administrative buildings, 106,100 passenger cars, 764 kindergartens, 934 medical institutions, 634 cultural buildings, 119 social sphere objects.
According to project experts, the minimum needs for the restoration of destroyed assets have increased by USD 3 billion over the past week and amount to USD 188 billion.
