Animals die in zoo in Kherson region due to Russian criminal inaction
During a storm in the temporarily occupied Arabat Spit in the Kherson region, the Syvash Gulf overflowed, flooding the zoo and causing the death of some animals
The Center of National Resistance reported this.
The partisans emphasize that the occupiers are critically short of manpower, specifically rescuers, preventing timely assistance to the animals.
According to the Center of National Resistance, "A tragedy occurred at the Arabat Spit, Kherson region, occupied by Russians - during a storm, the Syvash Bay overflowed, flooding the Safari Park. Consequently, animals in the captured zoo died because of a lack of personnel in the local Ministry of Emergency Situations, hindering timely assistance."
It's highlighted that the occupiers are still struggling to address the aftermath of the late November weather conditions, with electricity still absent in several controlled settlements in southern Ukraine. Temporarily occupied territories face an energy worker shortage as many have left the captured area.
- Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Kharkiv's Feldman Ecopark has been constantly under fire. On April 4, 2022, the occupiers destroyed it, damaging enclosures and infrastructure, leading to the death of some animals.
- By April 13, all animals were successfully evacuated from the ecopark.
