Andriy Kokotyukha: Fecal Russian occupation

The terrible and disgusting consequences of the Russian occupation began to appear on April 1, immediately after the liberation of the Kyiv region. Ukraine, and soon the entire civilized world, was shocked by the atrocities of the Russians in Bucha

The forecasts of Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova were quite fair: every occupied city and village in the Kyiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions experienced the same thing. And it is hard not to agree with the forecast that the genocide of Ukrainians continues in Kharkiv, Donbas and Kherson regions. And after the expulsion of the invaders, even greater horrors will be revealed. Although after Bucha it would seem it couldn't be more.

However, in the stories about the crimes of the Russian army, descriptions of their life in the occupied territories pass along a separate line. Moreover, the farther, the wider and more voluminous this picture is. It can be described in one sentence: the Russian invader pissed where he lived, ate and slept.

In other circumstances, one could laugh at strange, poorly understood customs by Ukrainians. But the war that we see with our own eyes is actually on the air, takes such stories out of the territory of humor. It makes one wonder where the Russians have a strange manner of "mining" the occupied objects and locations with the products of their own vital activity.

Actually, I had to see it in Bucha and Irpin on April 7th. By coincidence, the messages, excuse me, the looted Ukrainian houses plundered by the invaders began to appear regularly and exponentially the next day. But I will describe my experience.

My colleagues and I took humanitarian aid to Bucha, and at the request of the evacuated residents, we checked their housing. This is an elegant and cozy residential complex, which managed to avoid hits. Outwardly, the presence of Russian invaders was evidenced by the traces of a tank caterpillar in the yard and cars shot at point-blank range near the houses. But there was no whole apartment left in any of the buildings.

According to eyewitnesses, Kadyrov's men first ruled there, then the fighting Buryats. Heavy entrance doors were either broken by heavy objects or knocked out by explosive devices. Inside there are traces of pogrom, although household appliances were left in place. They obviously slept and ate on the master's beds. And set up toilets in the kitchens. In the presence of civilized bathrooms.

I saw the same in Irpin. Remembering youth, nostalgia for the local House of Creativity. Fortunately, the historical buildings survived. They look abandoned, neglected, but they were like that even before the war. Inside, a similar picture: pogrom and excrement in a conspicuous place.

Spicy detail. At one of the buildings, my colleagues and I saw a military uniform left by the orcs. The brothers in hand were understandably disgusted. We took a photo, and the very next day a comrade involved in military affairs identified him. It turns out that Russians serving in the... GRU wear such a uniform. Among those who seized and mastered the territory of the House of Creativity were grushniks, the so-called Russian military elite. And this elite left a fecal "message" after the retreat.

Let me give you a few more examples. In Borodyanka, a family that returned home found a house devastated by the Russians and a similar "Russian hello" in the middle of the children's room. In Bucha, the soldiers of the second army of the world adapted children's sandboxes in the yards for this. In the Chernihiv region - a kitchen sink. In the Kherson region - a cellar for storing conservation, and a special hole was cut in the roof. The best of all was writing with faeces on a mat on the walls of schools.

It seems that shit and everything connected with it is part of the "Russian code", an indispensable component of the "great Russian culture". What is the story about cocks made of shit, which in all seriousness are considered art objects in Russia. Since 2014, the Russians themselves - we are talking about the so-called "liberal journalists" - have left the Moscow ring road and have seen that there is no and never was a sewage system. A fresh Russian idea should be added - calomer tanks. The goal is to bombard Ukraine with faeces to dampen our morale.

If, however, to overcome disgust and try to explain such practices rationally, three main reasons can be identified.

The first is a sincere misunderstanding of Russian soldiers, what toilets are used for. Those whom we used to call orcs come from the poorest Russian regions. They don't know how to do anything except shitting themselves.

The second is that in the occupied territories, due to the actions of the Russians, light, water and other benefits of civilization disappeared. Simply put, there was nothing to flush in the toilets. Therefore, it really does not matter for the Russians in the situation that has developed through their fault where exactly to shit.

The third is worldview. Thus, not only Russians, but also other people far from civilization at all times marked the territory and expressed disdain for the local population. Actually, this is the oppression and humiliation mentioned above.

Once I drove a tramp out of our entrance, who settled down to sleep under the battery and frightened the residents, especially children. He left, but left behind a similar "hello". In fact, this is done from an understanding of one's own powerlessness and loss of control over the situation. For those who are forced to clean up after the Russians, this does not make it any easier. However, the understanding that the invader has no arguments, except for his own shit, testifies to our indispensable victory.
