Ammonia pipeline damaged again in Kharkiv region due to second Russian attack
Russia shells ammonia pipeline in Kharkiv region for the second time in 24 hours, which it demands to "reopen" as part of "grain deal"
The head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleh Synyehubov, reported the information.
"The Russian terrorists have launched a second attack on the ammonia pipeline in the Kupyansk district. A total of six attacks have been reported near the pumping station in the village of Masyutivka. Currently, there have been no reports of ammonia released into the air, and the situation remains under control," stated the head of the Kharkiv region.
Regarding the initial shelling incident, Oleh Synyehubov provided an update after the events that occurred on June 5th.
The head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleh Synyehubov, reported the information.
An emergency response headquarters has been established in the region, and all relevant services are actively engaged at the scene.
As of 10:29 pm, measurements conducted in the city of Kupyansk, Kharkiv region, indicate that there is no presence of ammonia in the air, according to the Regional State Administration.
"According to preliminary reports from experts on-site, there is no immediate risk of hazardous substances spreading in the Kupyansk community. Ongoing measurements are being conducted in nearby areas such as Kucherivka, Synkivka, and Petropavlivka, which are closer to the Russian border. The situation is being closely monitored to assess the level of contamination," the Kharkiv Regional State Administration added, assuring that the situation is under control.
The Togliatti-Odesa ammonia pipeline passes through the Kharkiv region. The pipeline was closed following Russia's large-scale invasion in February last year. Currently, Russia is demanding its reopening as part of a grain deal. However, Kyiv asserts that this condition was not part of the original agreement. As an alternative, Ukraine suggests the possibility of transit for Russian ammonia through its territory, under the condition of expanding the grain deal to include more ports.
