Initially, it was reported that the radius of the affected area was 5 km, later Zhyvytskyi clarified that as of 5:00 the affected area is about 2.5 km.

"The direction of the wind and the settlements that were under threat: the village of Novoselytsia. There is no threat to Sumy at the moment (the direction of the wind is not on the city)," he said.

As reported by the SES, as of 07:30 in Sumy on the territory of PJSC "Sumykhimprom" carried out work on the imposition of a bandage on the damaged pipeline.

SES units are working on the deposition of ammonia clouds. The emergency is localized.

As a result of the incident, an employee of the enterprise was injured.

Ammonia is a colorless gas with a pungent suffocating odor, well soluble in water, explosive, toxic. Ammonia is lighter than air, so shelters, basements, and lower floors should be used for protection.
